Look, we are not a sustainability studio. We find we are not able to identify as a sustainability BRAND, because at its core design thrives on newness and consumption, which is a major contradiction to the concept of sustainability. That’s the honest truth.

Instead, we are focused on becoming the most responsible version of ourselves. We’re not perfect but we are committed to making better choices every day, minimising our social and environmental impact starting with ourselves at home. We see this as our moral obligation and every small action counts. The to time create change is now and the best way to do this is to lead by example with small steps.

At Mira Mira we take a holistic approach to being a responsible brand. Whether that is eating more plant-based or educating clients on more sustainable options. What matters is the accumulative impact of all the tiny choices we make, big and small, every day. We take a lead-by-example approach to creating change.

A LOOK AT OUR HOME, OUR PLANET

We endeavour to work with clients who have a distinct openness to work towards environmental sustainability. We aim to help, educate and guide brands in the direction of a more environmentally sustainable future. We don’t expect every brand to be clued up on the ways and means to do so, but we do look for that sense of wonder and the desire to do better.

Mira Mira works with brands in a cohesive manner in order to tick off the essential boxes when it comes to becoming environmentally and sustainably better through design. From business cards printed onto eco-frien paper to larger scale decisions involving supply chain transparency. The aim is to work from within brands and to re-calibrate thinking from the inside out.

WAYS BRANDS CAN IMPROVE SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH DESIGN


1. Sustainable Packaging - Plastic packaging is either recycled, reusable or recyclable. Introduce a reusable packaging option.

2. Courier Service provider - These effect everything from a couriers packaging to the vehicles used.

3. Material selection - Selecting eco-friendly, recycled and recyclable papers and materials for printing and packaging. Including sustainable inks such as soy-based as well as USING LESS colors AND ONES that require less ink.

4. Production Materials - Selecting recycled, recyclable long-Lasting materials for signage. Materials that get better with age.

5. Printing & Production - Sustainable methods and supply chain transparency.

6. Designing for Circularity - Developing circular business models, increasing recycling & up-cycling.

7. Digital Solutions - Opting for digital solutions over printed materials to reduce paper usage and waste.

9. Apparel & Merchandise - Selecting sustainable partners and using certified lower-impact Fabrics.

OUR PEOPLE, OUR HAPPINESS

Our team is at the very core of everything we do at Studio Mira Mira. We are a small team and we work in the creative industry because we are passionate about developing brands. The aim is not only to maintain team happiness but to continue to improve it. Internally we focus on a work-life balance. Our team works remotely giving them the desired level of responsibility and life balance in order to thrive.

Community is at our core as we discover the importance of in person meetings and enjoying a coffee or meal together while working. We also enjoy spending time together socially and integrate work and life in a way that creates a sense of community and togetherness. As the founders work in this cohesive manner the aim is for employees and contractors to feel that same sense of closeness.
